About this sound

A short clip of the catchy Bananaphone chorus by Raffi, used in memes, joke ringtone edits and random comedic cuts online.

This sound is a brief excerpt of the famously silly Banana Phone song, built around the repeated “ring ring ring ring ring ring ring, banana phone” hook. It has a bright, playful singalong feel that instantly sounds goofy and childlike, which is exactly why people use it in edits. The clip works as a punchline on its own, but it also lands well when something absurd appears on screen, a fake call comes in, or a scene suddenly turns unserious. It makes the moment feel intentionally ridiculous in a very recognizable way.

This sound comes from “Bananaphone,” a children’s song by Raffi that became widely recognized online for its repeated telephone hook and novelty lyrics. The track predates short-form meme culture, but the chorus spread through remixes, ringtone jokes, and ironic video edits on forums, YouTube, and later social platforms. It is still used because the phrase is instantly understandable, musically catchy, and absurd enough to work as a clean comedic interruption in many different editing styles.
