About this sound

A parody of Sans's “bad time” warning from Undertale, altered to sound like “bad Tom.” Creators use it before ominous, awkward, or mock-serious moments.

This voice clip riffs on Sans’s famous warning about having a “bad time” in Undertale, changing the final word into “Tom.” The result sounds like a familiar game quote taking an unexpected, absurd turn. Its deliberate word swap gives the line a playful quality while preserving the threatening setup associated with Sans. Viewers who recognize the original can anticipate “time,” making the altered ending land as a quick surprise. The clip works especially well when a person named Tom makes a mistake, faces a challenge, or walks into an obviously troublesome situation.

The line references Sans, a major character in Toby Fox’s 2015 role-playing game Undertale. During the game’s violent route, Sans confronts the player and warns them about having a “bad time,” a phrase that became closely associated with his difficult boss battle. This audio changes the expected final word to “Tom,” turning the threat into a name-based joke. The variation remains useful in gaming edits and personalized memes because audiences can recognize the original setup while still being surprised by the altered ending.
