About this sound

The instantly recognizable Discord message ping used in memes to signal interruptions, online moments, and gamer humor.

The Discord notification sound is a short, high-pitched digital chime that instantly signals an incoming message. Originally designed for the popular communication platform Discord, this audio cue has transcended the app to become a staple of modern video editing. Creators strategically place this sound to represent digital interruptions, simulate online chat overlays, or add a touch of internet humor to gaming videos, commentary, and social media clips.

Introduced alongside the launch of the Discord platform in 2015, this simple electronic chime was created to alert users of direct messages and server pings. As the application grew into the primary communication hub for gamers and online communities, the sound became globally recognizable.
