About this sound

The cheat activated sound effect from GTA: San Andreas, used in edits, memes and gaming clips to signal a code, upgrade or sudden power-up.

This clip is the familiar confirmation chime that plays when a cheat is successfully activated in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It is short, clean and instantly recognisable to players, with a bright game UI tone that feels like something important just unlocked. In videos, people use it to mark a sudden advantage, a rule break, or a moment where someone gains unfair power. Because the sound is brief and punchy, it lands quickly and adds a nostalgic arcade-like payoff without taking over the whole scene.

This sound is widely recognised as the cheat confirmation effect from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the 2004 open-world game from Rockstar Games. It spread online through gameplay videos, machinima, and nostalgia edits built around classic GTA moments. Creators still use it because the cue is so short and readable: even people who have not played recently often understand that it means a code worked or a special effect has been triggered. It is often paired with CJ jokes and clips from Aw Shit! Here go again.
