About this sound

Ganon's threatening 'or else you will die' line from the Zelda CD-i cutscenes, used in memes, edits and gaming posts for dramatic villain energy.

This clip features Ganon delivering the blunt threat 'or else you will die' in the famously awkward animated style of the Zelda CD-i games. The line lands with a stiff, theatrical delivery that makes it sound both menacing and unintentionally funny. That mix is exactly why people keep using it. In videos, it adds over-the-top villain energy, mock drama, or a sudden retro game punchline. Even without context, the clip feels memorable because the pause and delivery make the threat sound so exaggerated.

This line is associated with the notoriously memed Zelda CD-i animated cutscenes featuring Ganon, released in the early 1990s on Philips CD-i. The stilted voice acting and strange animation helped the quote spread online for years in YouTube compilations, retro gaming forums, and meme edits. It remains popular because it captures the odd charm of those games in a single sentence. Fans often pair it with other exaggerated gaming stingers like the vine boom sound for extra comedic emphasis.
