About this sound

A quick rimshot-style That's What She Said meme clip, used after accidental double entendres and awkward phrasing in chats, edits and reaction posts.

This sound is a very short delivery of the classic "That's what she said" punchline, trimmed down for fast meme timing. It lands like a verbal wink after someone says something that can be taken the wrong way, turning an ordinary line into a crude joke. Because the clip is under a second long, it works best as a sharp interruption rather than a full reaction bit. Viewers instantly get the joke, which makes the moment feel more awkward, playful and knowingly immature in the best meme way.

The phrase "That's what she said" existed long before meme culture, but it became especially well known through Michael Scott on the US version of The Office in the 2000s. Online, the short audio version spread as a reaction clip for double entendres, awkward slips and intentionally childish edits. It remains popular because the setup is everywhere: any sentence with unfortunate wording can trigger the joke. On soundboards and short videos, creators use it as a fast punchline much like awkward cricket or chipmunk laugh.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the That's What She Said sound used for?

It is used as a punchline after dialogue that accidentally sounds suggestive. Editors add it right after a pause or a strange line to create an instant innuendo joke without needing extra explanation.

Where does That's What She Said come from?

The phrase is older than internet memes, but many people know it best from Michael Scott in the US version of The Office. That show helped popularize it online as a repeatable reaction joke.

Why is this clip so short?

A short cut makes the joke hit faster. Most creators use only the punchline itself so it can interrupt a conversation, subtitle or reaction clip immediately, without slowing down the pacing of the edit.
