About this sound

A short excerpt from Michael Jackson's song Chicago, released on Xscape, used in dance edits, fan tributes, and dramatic relationship videos.

This clip features part of Chicago, a Michael Jackson track built around a tense story of romance and deception. Jackson’s distinctive lead vocal carries the excerpt, while the polished rhythm and layered production give it a dramatic, cinematic mood. The sound can make an edit feel mysterious, stylish, or emotionally charged, especially when paired with a reveal or shifting relationship dynamic. Its extended 17-second length provides enough room for a short sequence, transition, dance moment, or montage rather than functioning as a single quick reaction cue.

Chicago was recorded by Michael Jackson during the sessions for his Invincible album but was not included on that 2001 release. Written by Cory Rooney and originally known as She Was Lovin’ Me, the song was later issued posthumously on Xscape in 2014. Its narrative about discovering a lover’s hidden marriage gives the track its tension. Short excerpts continue to appear in fan edits, dance videos, and mood-driven montages because Jackson’s recognizable vocal delivery works well with dramatic visual storytelling.
