About this sound

The classic Alan Alan Alan meerkat clip, a viral talking animal meme used in edits, remixes and reaction posts for sudden recognition or chaotic energy.

This sound is the famous “Alan, Alan, Alan” call from the talking meerkat meme, followed by the switch to “Steve.” It is a short, high-pitched voice clip with a playful, repetitive delivery that instantly feels absurd and recognizable. The repetition makes it funny on its own, and in edits it usually lands as a burst of random energy, surprise recognition or awkward excitement. Because the clip is so short and rhythmic, creators often use it as a quick punchline that interrupts a calm moment or highlights someone spotting a person in the distance.

This clip comes from the viral “Alan! Alan! Alan! Steve!” talking meerkat video that spread widely online in the late 2000s. It became a durable internet meme because the repeated names are instantly memorable and easy to quote. The sound has stayed popular in short edits, reposts and reaction compilations where creators use the first shout as a recognition gag and the “Steve” turn as the extra punchline. It still works well because even very short clips are enough for people to recognize the joke.
