About this sound

The iconic Liu Kang flying kick sound from Mortal Kombat, used in gaming edits, fight memes and sudden attack moments for a classic arcade hit.

This clip is the sharp, instantly recognisable sound tied to Liu Kang’s flying kick in Mortal Kombat. It comes in fast, with a forceful martial arts yell and impact feel that makes any moment seem more aggressive and over-the-top. Because the sound is so short, it lands well as a punchline, a reaction cue or a transition in action-heavy edits. Viewers usually read it as a sudden strike, a retro fighting game reference, or a dramatic way to show someone charging straight into trouble.

Liu Kang is one of the signature fighters from the Mortal Kombat series, and his flying kick became one of the franchise’s most familiar move sounds. The character appeared in the original 1992 game, and clips of his attacks have stayed popular in fan edits, combo videos and retro game memes ever since. The sound still gets reused because it is brief, dramatic and instantly readable, even for viewers who only loosely know Mortal Kombat.
