About this sound

A short car tire screech sound effect with a sharp skid and stop. Used in memes, edits, and videos to signal sudden turns, panic, or near misses.

This sound is a brief burst of car tires screeching across pavement, ending almost as quickly as it starts. It has that high-pitched rubber-on-road squeal people instantly connect with hard braking, fast cornering, or losing control for a split second. Because the clip is so short, it works well as a punchy transition or reaction beat rather than a long scene sound. In a video, it adds urgency, surprise, and a slightly chaotic feel, making ordinary moments land like a dramatic close call.

The exact source of this specific clip is unclear, but short tire skid sounds like this have been widely reused in online edits, prank videos, and meme compilations for years. Creators use them as a quick audio cue for panic, sudden movement, or chaotic timing. On short-form platforms, the effect stays popular because it is instantly recognizable and easy to sync with abrupt cuts, freezes, and visual swerves. Its usefulness comes from exaggerating motion and making even small moments feel like a dramatic close call.
