About this sound

The iconic “And his name is John Cena” announcement with his WWE entrance music in an 8D mix, used for surprise reveals, edits, and punchlines.

This clip opens with the unmistakable shouted introduction, “And his name is John Cena,” before bursting into the brass-heavy opening of Cena’s WWE entrance theme. The 8D treatment moves the audio across the stereo field, making the reveal feel as if it swings around the listener’s head. Its abrupt jump from spoken setup to triumphant music creates an oversized, deliberately ridiculous payoff. Viewers recognize the cue immediately, so it works especially well when an ordinary scene suddenly reveals a person, object, winner, or unexpected hero.

The meme combines John Cena’s wrestling persona with the opening of his WWE entrance theme, “The Time Is Now.” Its familiar shouted introduction became closely associated with an online prank-call recording and spread through remixes, sudden-interruption videos, gaming edits, and reaction clips during the 2010s. This version applies an 8D-style stereo effect for a more immersive headphone experience. Creators also use the extended John Cenaaaaaa version when a longer, more exaggerated announcement better suits the edit. The format remains recognizable because the vocal cue and brass entrance are immediate cultural shorthand for Cena.
