About this sound

A clip of Donald Trump saying "we need to build a wall," taken from his political speeches and used in memes, edits and reaction posts about borders.

This sound is a short spoken clip of Donald Trump saying, "we need to build a wall." It has the blunt, slogan-like delivery people recognize from his campaign speeches, which makes it instantly readable even in a quick edit. Creators use it as a punchline for jokes about overreactions, blocking something out, setting hard boundaries, or turning a simple problem into a dramatic political solution. Because the line is so specific and loaded, it usually lands best when the visual setup is clear and the joke is about exaggeration rather than policy debate.

This quote is associated with Donald Trump and became widely known during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, when border wall rhetoric was a central part of his public messaging. Online, the line spread beyond politics into meme culture because it is short, recognizable, and easy to apply to any situation involving separation, blocking, or keeping something out. It still appears in reaction edits, reposted speech clips, and ironic mashups where a heavy political slogan is used for an everyday inconvenience.
