About this sound

The classic Valve startup audio from the game company logo, used in memes, gaming edits and videos to signal an intro, reveal or nostalgic PC game moment.

This clip is the recognizable startup sound associated with Valve's logo screens before many PC games. It has a dark, cinematic tone with a slow mechanical feel, building tension for a few seconds before resolving into the familiar sting. People use it when they want a scene to feel dramatic, ominous or instantly tied to classic Valve and Steam-era gaming. Even on its own, the audio suggests a game is about to begin, which gives edits a nostalgic and slightly eerie atmosphere.

This sound is best known from Valve's intro and logo sequences that appeared before games published by the company, especially on PC. Over time, players began reusing it in uploads, remixes and meme edits because it instantly evokes classic gaming.
