About this sound

A short Tom scream clip, usually recognized from Tom and Jerry, used in memes, fails and chaotic reaction edits when something goes terribly wrong.

This clip is the classic high-pitched scream associated with Tom, the cat from Tom and Jerry. It bursts in fast, loud and dramatic, with that exaggerated cartoon panic people instantly recognize even in a very short edit. The sound works because it turns a simple surprise into full-blown chaos, making a fall, jump scare or sudden mistake feel much funnier. Even without dialogue, the scream clearly sells fear, shock or pain, so viewers get the joke right away.

This sound is widely recognized online as Tom the cat screaming from Tom and Jerry, the long-running animated series created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Short clips of Tom's exaggerated cries have circulated for years in meme edits, reposts and reaction videos across social platforms. It stays popular because the scream is instantly readable, even without context, and fits the same kind of over-the-top reaction space as a scream meme or a quick bruh stinger.
