About this sound

The classic Looney Tunes opening theme, used in Warner Bros. cartoons and in edits, memes, and comedic videos to give scenes a playful cartoon feel.

This clip is the familiar Looney Tunes theme song, the bright, bouncy orchestral tune most people associate with classic Warner Bros. cartoons. It has a lively brass-and-strings sound that instantly signals slapstick action, old-school animation, and chaotic comedy. Even a short section can make an ordinary moment feel like a cartoon gag, especially when paired with fails, chases, or exaggerated reactions. Viewers recognize it fast, so it works as a shorthand for mischief, silliness, and that unmistakable vintage cartoon energy.

The tune most closely linked with Looney Tunes is “The Merry-Go-Round Broke Down,” a song that became the opening and closing music for Warner Bros. animated shorts in the 1930s. Over time, it became inseparable from characters like Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, and the melody stayed recognizable through TV reruns, compilations, and internet edits. Online, creators still use it to signal classic cartoon chaos, often alongside exaggerated effects such as a cartoon slip.
