About this sound

Future Trunks warns soldiers not to shoot Goku in Dragon Ball Super. The awkward Goku Black confusion makes it ideal for reaction memes and edits.

This short Dragon Ball Super voice clip features Future Trunks urgently stopping armed soldiers from firing at Goku because he is not Goku Black. The tense delivery and unintentionally awkward wording turn a serious warning into a memorable punchline. Without the story context, the line sounds startlingly different from its intended meaning, which gives reaction videos an abrupt comedic twist. Creators often use it when someone is mistaken for another person, when a situation needs a last-second intervention, or when an explanation only makes the misunderstanding more uncomfortable.

The line comes from Dragon Ball Super during the Future Trunks storyline, where Goku is mistaken for the villain Goku Black. Future Trunks intervenes to stop soldiers from attacking him, creating the widely shared wording associated with “Hold your fire, this man isn't Black.” The scene dates to the anime's 2016 run and spread online through clipped videos, reaction posts, and remixes. It remains recognizable because its dramatic context is straightforward, while the isolated wording produces an unexpected double meaning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the This Man Isn't Black sound from?

The clip comes from Dragon Ball Super's Future Trunks storyline. Soldiers mistake Goku for Goku Black, the enemy who devastated their future, and Future Trunks urgently tells them to hold their fire.

Who says “This man isn't Black” in Dragon Ball Super?

Future Trunks says the line while protecting Goku from soldiers who believe he is Goku Black. “Black” refers to the villain's name, not Goku's race, although the isolated phrasing created the meme.

Why is the Don't Shoot He's Not Black clip popular?

The clip combines an intense anime delivery with wording that sounds unexpectedly awkward outside the Goku Black storyline. Editors use that contrast for mistaken-identity jokes, abrupt interventions, reaction posts, and last-second attempts to prevent an attack.
