About this sound

The famous 'Daga Kotowaru' or 'I refuse' anime quote from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, used in edits, reaction memes and hard-no punchlines.

This clip features the iconic Japanese line 'Daga Kotowaru,' commonly translated as 'I refuse.' It is delivered with a cool, stubborn tone that instantly signals total rejection without sounding panicked or loud. The sound is short, sharp and dramatic, which makes it perfect for edits where a character, creator or streamer wants to shut something down in a memorable way. Viewers recognize it as an anime refusal moment, so it often adds attitude, irony and a confident punch to a scene, especially when the joke is someone rejecting an obviously bad idea.

'Daga Kotowaru' became widely known through JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, where the phrase is strongly associated with Rohan Kishibe in Diamond Is Unbreakable. Online, the quote spread through anime clips, subtitled reposts and reaction compilations because its delivery is instantly recognizable even in very short edits. Creators still use it as a stylish refusal sound, especially when they want a response that feels more dramatic and memorable than a plain spoken no.
