About this sound

A five-second cricket chirping sound, labeled with the Thai word for cricket, used for awkward silences, quiet scenes, and nighttime edits online.

This short sound captures the familiar pulse of a chirping cricket, repeating across roughly five seconds. Its light, high-pitched rhythm suggests a quiet outdoor setting after dark, but it also works as a comedic cue. When placed after a failed joke, unanswered question, or confusing statement, the chirps exaggerate the lack of response and make the pause feel deliberately awkward. The steady insect noise can also establish a calm nighttime atmosphere in videos, games, skits, or audio edits without overwhelming dialogue or other important sounds.

The original recording source and date of this particular clip are not identified. Its Thai label, จิ้งหรีด, means “cricket,” matching the insect sound it represents. Cricket chirps have long been used in cartoons, television comedy, videos, and live performance to signal that a room has gone noticeably silent. Online creators continue that visual and audio convention in reaction edits, skits, and memes. The cue remains effective because viewers quickly understand both its literal nighttime setting and its humorous meaning: nobody responded.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the จิ้งหรีด12345 sound?

It is a roughly five-second clip of cricket-like chirping. The Thai word จิ้งหรีด means “cricket,” so the user-supplied label describes the insect noise heard in the audio.

Why are cricket chirps used after failed jokes?

Cricket chirps represent noticeable silence and a lack of audience response. Editors place them after an unsuccessful joke, awkward comment, or unanswered question to turn the pause into a familiar comedic reaction.

How should this cricket sound effect be used?

Place it just after the dialogue ends and allow the reaction shot to breathe. It works best beneath a blank expression, an empty room, or a motionless group rather than over fast cuts or loud background music.
