About this sound

A short Among Us meme audio built around the “when the impostor is sus” joke, used in ironic edits, bait clips and sudden reveal moments.

This clip is the familiar “when the impostor is sus” meme audio tied to Among Us humor. It usually lands as a goofy, awkward punchline rather than a dramatic quote, which is why it works so well in absurd edits and low-effort meme posts. The sound has a deliberately unserious feel, instantly signaling that something suspicious, off, or embarrassingly obvious is happening on screen. Viewers recognize it as a fast cue for irony, especially when a reveal is overexplained or a character is acting in a way that feels cartoonishly guilty.

This meme is closely connected to Among Us, the social deduction game that exploded online in 2020. The phrase “when the impostor is sus” spread across TikTok, YouTube, Discord, and remix culture as players and meme creators turned the game's “sus” slang into a standalone joke. The audio is still used because it instantly communicates suspicion in a silly, internet-native way. It often appears alongside other quick reaction sounds, including bruh, especially in short edits built around obvious or exaggerated reveals.
