About this sound

Shrek's “What are you doing in my swamp?” line from the 2001 animated film is a classic reaction sound for unwanted guests and sudden intrusions.

This short voice clip captures Shrek angrily demanding to know why strangers are in his swamp. His sharp delivery begins as a frustrated question and lands like a territorial warning, making the moment instantly recognizable even without the accompanying scene. The line gives videos a comic sense of outrage, especially when someone enters an area where they clearly do not belong. Because the performance is forceful but exaggerated, it works equally well for genuine annoyance, playful confrontations, gaming interruptions, and edits built around personal space or unexpected visitors.

The quote comes from DreamWorks Animation’s 2001 film Shrek, where the title character confronts fairy-tale creatures sent into his secluded swamp. Shrek was voiced by Mike Myers, whose emphatic delivery helped make the scene one of the film’s most remembered exchanges. As image macros, remixes, and short-form video edits spread online, the line became a reusable response to trespassing, interruptions, and unwanted company. It remains popular because the setup is immediately understandable and Shrek’s exaggerated indignation turns an ordinary boundary dispute into a comic confrontation.
