About this sound

A cat clip that sounds like a sad 'wha wha wha' trombone gag. People use it in memes, fails and pet videos to mock disappointment.

This sound is a short cat audio clip that comes across like a drawn-out 'wha wha wha' reaction, similar to the classic sad trombone joke. Instead of a clean instrument hit, you hear a cat vocalization that gives the same deflated, comedic feeling. The result is silly, a little dramatic, and instantly readable in edits. It works well when something goes wrong, a plan falls apart, or a pet acts overly serious. Viewers get the joke quickly because the sound telegraphs failure, awkwardness, or mock sadness without needing any explanation.

This clip is best known online as a reaction sound rather than as a formally credited audio source. It circulates in meme edits, reposted pet videos, and short-form reaction compilations where creators use it as a comic stand-in for disappointment. The appeal is simple: a real cat noise mimics the rhythm people associate with a sad trombone, so the joke reads fast even with no context. That mix of animal audio and familiar meme timing has kept it useful in viral edits across different platforms.
