About this sound

The Office Stay Calm clip captures Michael Scott shouting during Dwight's chaotic fire drill, a reaction sound used for panic, confusion, and comic mayhem.

This short clip comes from the famously chaotic fire drill sequence in The Office. Michael Scott tries to control the room by yelling for everyone to stay calm, while the surrounding panic makes his command instantly self-defeating. His strained, repeated delivery rises above the commotion and turns an emergency response into a sharp burst of workplace comedy. The sound gives videos a frantic, escalating energy, especially when a minor problem suddenly becomes a full-blown disaster or a group completely loses control.

The quote comes from “Stress Relief,” a two-part episode of the American version of The Office that first aired in 2009. Dwight Schrute stages a fire drill to test his coworkers, creating panic throughout the office. Michael Scott repeatedly orders everyone to stay calm even as he becomes visibly frantic himself. The contrast made the scene highly memorable, and excerpts spread widely through reaction videos, GIFs, and social posts. It remains useful because the escalating delivery instantly communicates collective panic without needing additional context.
