About this sound

A short clip from CYRIL’s remix of Disturbed’s The Sound of Silence, used for dramatic reveals, emotional edits and cinematic social videos.

This clip captures the dark, dance-driven atmosphere of CYRIL’s remix of The Sound of Silence. A deep vocal line and brooding melody build against a pulsing electronic rhythm, giving the familiar song a modern, cinematic weight. The excerpt works especially well when a video shifts from calm footage to a striking reveal, emotional realization or dramatic landscape. Its contrast between solemn vocals and club-oriented production creates tension without losing the melancholy associated with the song, making even a brief edit feel larger, darker and more intense.

Australian producer CYRIL released his remix of Disturbed’s version of The Sound of Silence in 2024. Disturbed had recorded its orchestral rock cover for the 2015 album Immortalized, reinterpreting the song originally written by Paul Simon. CYRIL’s electronic treatment introduced the performance to dance playlists and short-form video edits, where its heavy pulse suited dramatic transitions. The recognizable hello darkness my old friend lyric and the contrast between solemn singing and modern production help the remix remain effective in emotional and cinematic posts.
