About this sound

A short clip from the viral Shrek Is Love, Shrek Is Life meme, used for absurd reveals, cursed jokes and dramatic meme edits online.

This sound is the famous “Shrek is love, Shrek is life” line from the long-running Shrek meme. The clip is short, clear and instantly recognizable, with a dramatic, oddly serious delivery that makes the joke land even harder. It works because the phrase sounds sincere while the meme around it is intentionally bizarre and over-the-top. In edits, that contrast gives the sound a surreal, cursed feel, so viewers usually react with laughter, shock or secondhand embarrassment depending on how suddenly it appears.

Shrek Is Love, Shrek Is Life became widely known online through a viral meme and fan animation based on the phrase. The line spread for its mix of deadpan delivery, shock humor and deliberately uncomfortable absurdity. Over time it turned into a recognizable internet quote used in remix culture, reaction edits and nostalgic meme compilations. It still shows up because even a very short clip instantly signals early viral meme energy, especially when paired with other goofy ahh sounds in fast-paced edits.
