About this sound

Audience laughter from the TV series Chaves, used as a classic sitcom laugh track in memes, edits and funny clips to underline awkward or silly moments.

This sound is the familiar burst of audience laughter heard in Chaves, the dubbed broadcasts of the classic sitcom known across Latin America and Brazil. It has that bright, canned studio-laughter feel, with a quick swell and a warm, old TV mix that instantly signals a joke landing. In edits, it works like a reaction button: add it after a pause, a bad pun or an embarrassing moment, and the scene suddenly feels more ironic, playful or intentionally overdramatic.

This clip refers to the laugh track associated with Chaves, the Brazilian and Portuguese-language name used for El Chavo del Ocho, the television comedy created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños and first broadcast in the 1970s. In Brazil especially, the show's dubbing and recurring audience laughter became deeply recognizable through years of reruns. Online, creators reuse the Chaves audience laughter as a shorthand for old-school TV comedy, especially when they want a nostalgic sitcom reaction instead of a modern meme sting.
