About this sound

Akane Tendo shouts Help Put Me Down in this Ranma 1/2 clip while he carries her off, a panicked anime reaction sound used in funny edits and meme videos.

This six-second clip captures Akane Tendo's frantic, high-pitched protest as she is suddenly grabbed and carried away, her voice rising in panic as she demands to be put down. The delivery is breathless and indignant rather than truly frightened, with sharp, repeated pleading that makes the moment feel comedic instead of threatening. You can hear the struggle in her tone, the quick bursts of speech and the sense that she is being whisked off against her will. For viewers, it lands as a recognisable anime reaction, funny because Akane sounds both annoyed and helpless at the same time, and it works best when the on-screen action mirrors that unwanted lift.

The line comes from Ranma 1/2, the long-running anime about Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo, and captures Akane protesting as Ranma carries her away while they set out to find Shampoo. Clips like this spread through anime soundboards and meme edits because a single, clearly delivered protest is easy to reuse out of context. Years after the original broadcast, it still works as shorthand for being dragged somewhere unwillingly, especially in reaction videos and short comedy edits where viewers already recognise Akane's frustrated tone.

What is the Akane Help Put Me Down sound?

It is a short voice clip of Akane Tendo from Ranma 1/2 shouting for Ranma to put her down while he carries her away. The panicked, annoyed delivery makes it a popular reaction sound for jokes about being dragged somewhere unwillingly.

Where does the Akane clip come from?

It comes from Ranma 1/2, the anime following Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo. In the scene, Ranma carries Akane off as they head to find Shampoo, and Akane protests loudly throughout the brief carry.

How do creators use this sound in edits?

Creators place it over a moment when a character, pet, or friend is lifted, pulled, or dragged away against their will. It works best with a quick cut or zoom, keeping the clip short so the protest remains the punchline.
