About this sound

The Nope, it’s just Chuck Testa quote comes from the viral Ojai Valley Taxidermy ad and punctuates fake-outs, reveals, and absurd surprises.

This short voice clip features taxidermist Chuck Testa delivering his famous deadpan line, “Nope, it’s just Chuck Testa.” The calm response follows an apparent animal sighting, turning the reveal of a taxidermy mount into an unexpectedly funny punchline. Its quick setup and recognizable delivery create an immediate bait-and-switch effect. Viewers expect something real, dramatic, or alarming, only to hear Testa casually explain the trick. The sound works especially well when a video presents a convincing illusion before revealing an ordinary, staged, or deliberately ridiculous explanation.

The line originated in a 2011 advertisement for Ojai Valley Taxidermy featuring California taxidermist Chuck Testa. The commercial was created by comedy duo Rhett and Link as part of their Commercial Kings television project. Scenes repeatedly suggest that mounted animals are alive before Testa appears and delivers the deadpan correction. After the advertisement spread online, the phrase became a widely quoted bait-and-switch meme. It remains useful because its compact delivery instantly signals that a surprising image is fake, staged, or misunderstood.
