About this sound

The quick 'Nek Minnit' meme clip, a classic New Zealand internet catchphrase used for sudden fails, instant plot twists, and abrupt before-and-after jokes.

This sound is the ultra-short 'Nek Minnit' punchline, delivered in a flat, dry way that makes a sudden change feel even funnier. It works like a comedic time skip in less than a second, turning a normal setup into an instant fail, accident, or ridiculous outcome. Because the clip is so brief, it lands fast and does not interrupt the flow of a video. Viewers recognize it as a classic meme cue for when something goes wrong immediately after someone seems confident, calm, or completely in control.

'Nek minnit' is a New Zealand catchphrase that spread online after a viral comedy clip by Levi Hawken in 2011. The phrase became shorthand for a sudden twist of fate, especially in short edits where something goes wrong right after a setup. It stayed popular because the wording is distinctive, the delivery is brief, and the joke is instantly understood even by people who only know it as a reaction meme. It often fills the same role as a quick bruh moment in editing.
