About this sound

A short clip of the classic Super Mario Bros theme from Nintendo's 1985 game, often used in gaming edits, retro memes and victory moments.

This sound is a brief excerpt of the instantly recognisable Super Mario Bros theme, with its bright, bouncy melody and classic 8-bit game tone. Even in a very short clip, it signals old-school platforming, arcade energy and playful nostalgia. Creators use it to make a moment feel fun, game-like or triumphant, especially when showing jumps, coins, level-ups or anything with a retro gaming vibe. The familiar tune lands fast, so viewers usually understand the reference immediately and connect it with Mario's world.

The melody comes from the overworld theme of Super Mario Bros., released by Nintendo for the NES in 1985 and composed by Koji Kondo. It became one of the most famous themes in video game history, helped by the series' huge popularity and decades of reuse in Mario games, remixes and online videos. Because the tune is so widely recognised, even a tiny excerpt still reads instantly as Mario, which is why it remains common in gaming memes, retro edits and nostalgic short-form clips.
