About this sound

Michael Scott's panicked 'No, God, no' reaction from The Office, used in memes and edits for sudden bad news, dread, or instant over-the-top refusal.

This clip features Michael Scott erupting into a frantic shout of 'No, God, no' with rising panic and total disbelief. It starts as a sharp refusal, then spills into a louder, more desperate meltdown that makes even minor setbacks feel hilariously catastrophic. The delivery is what sells it: Steve Carell plays the moment with such intense dread that the sound instantly turns any reveal, text message, or visual punchline into a full-blown emotional overreaction. It works best when you want a reaction that feels dramatic, recognizable, and instantly funny.

This reaction sound comes from The Office, where Michael Scott, played by Steve Carell, panics at the thought of Toby returning in the 2009 episode 'Stress Relief.' The quote became a long-running meme because its escalation is immediate and easy to apply to everyday annoyances. It spread through YouTube compilations, GIF captions, short-form edits, and gaming reactions, and it still appears alongside clips such as the Oh My God Meme when creators want a stronger, more theatrical breakdown.
