About this sound

A sinister Mephiles laugh from Sonic the Hedgehog 2006, used in edits, villain memes and game clips when a scene needs a dark, menacing payoff.

This clip features the eerie laugh associated with Mephiles, the dark antagonist from Sonic the Hedgehog 2006. It is a drawn-out, villain-style cackle with a cold, ominous tone that instantly makes a moment feel more threatening or smug. Creators use it to underline betrayals, evil plans, creepy reveals or any scene where a character seems way too pleased with the chaos they caused. Even without music, the laugh carries enough menace to turn an ordinary reaction, gameplay fail or dramatic cut into something darker and more theatrical.

Mephiles is a major villain in Sonic the Hedgehog, especially known from the 2006 game often called Sonic 06. His cold voice, unsettling presence and theatrical laugh made him memorable to fans, even outside the game itself. Over time, clips of his laughter spread through fan edits, meme videos and versus content, where creators use it to signal pure malice or a dramatic heel turn. It still shows up because the character has a distinct, instantly recognizable villain aura that fits exaggerated internet humor.
