About this sound

The classic Pingu noot noot sound from the claymation TV series, used in memes, cartoon edits and playful reaction clips online.

This clip is the famous “noot noot” call associated with Pingu, the little penguin from the stop motion children's series. It is a short, bright, nasal honk-like vocal sound that lands somewhere between a squeak and a tiny trumpet blast. Because it is so quick and distinctive, it instantly adds a silly, innocent, cartoon feel to a video. Creators use it to underline cute chaos, awkward waddling, surprise entrances, or any moment that needs a harmless burst of playful energy.

The noot noot sound is tied to Pingu, the stop motion penguin from the television series that first aired in 1986. Online, the call became a widely shared meme because it is instantly recognizable even in very short clips. People kept reusing it in reaction videos, cartoon remixes, and absurd edits where a cheerful, childish sound makes the visual joke land harder. It remains popular because it is clean, short, and readable without any setup, much like other exaggerated cartoon cues such as Cartoon Chase.
