About this sound

A short clip from the hit song "I Believe I Can Fly," often used in memes, fail edits and dramatic jump moments right before reality kicks in.

This sound is a short musical clip from “I Believe I Can Fly,” a soaring ballad best known for its instantly recognizable chorus. In meme edits, the audio usually sets up a hopeful, heroic or slow-motion moment, making a jump, leap or absurd stunt feel much bigger than it really is. The contrast is what makes it work: the song sounds uplifting and emotional, but creators often pair it with clumsy landings, overconfidence or fake inspiration. That mix of sincerity and irony gives the clip its lasting meme appeal.

“I Believe I Can Fly” is a song by R. Kelly that became widely known after appearing in the 1996 film Space Jam. Online, short excerpts from the chorus spread through meme videos because the song’s grand, inspirational tone fits perfectly with clips of jumps, near-misses and overconfident fails. It stayed popular on short-form video platforms and soundboards as an easy way to signal a soaring moment before a comedic cut or collapse.
