About this sound

A short clip from PSY's 2012 hit Gangnam Style, used in memes, throwback edits and joke dance reveals when a loud, instantly recognisable pop cue fits.

This sound is a very short burst from Gangnam Style, the global K-pop hit by South Korean artist PSY. Even in a one-second clip, it carries the song's punchy beat and instantly familiar party energy. The effect is playful and absurd, so it works well when a video suddenly switches tone, reveals a goofy dance, or leans into over-the-top nostalgia. Because the track is so widely recognised, the sound lands fast and gives viewers an immediate joke without needing any extra setup.

Gangnam Style comes from PSY's 2012 single and music video, which became a worldwide viral hit on YouTube. Its horse-riding dance, catchy chorus and exaggerated visual style made the track a major internet reference point. Short sound clips from the song are still used in memes, remixes and nostalgic edits because people recognise them almost immediately. Even a tiny excerpt can signal early 2010s internet culture, big dance reveal humor, or a deliberately overdramatic party moment.
