About this sound

Kratos shouts Ares in a brief, furious voice clip from the God of War series, used in gaming edits, dramatic confrontations, and online rage memes.

This clip captures Kratos roaring the name “Ares” with an extended, forceful delivery associated with his rage in the God of War series. His harsh voice rises into a desperate battle cry, making the moment feel larger and more intense than an ordinary shout. The short runtime lets the scream land quickly without interrupting an edit’s pacing. Viewers familiar with Kratos immediately recognize the anger and mythological conflict behind it, while others can still read it as an exaggerated call of fury, frustration, or defiance.

Kratos is the central character of the God of War game series, which began on PlayStation 2 in 2005. His original story is closely tied to Ares, the Greek god of war and the first game’s principal antagonist. Clips of Kratos angrily calling Ares became useful beyond gameplay because the strained delivery communicates rage without needing additional context. The sound continues to appear in gaming memes, versus edits, reaction videos, and posts that exaggerate a confrontation or turn an ordinary setback into mythological drama.

Creators commonly place it over boss reveals, failed matches, dramatic zooms, and mock confrontations. It works best when the visual pause begins just before the shout, allowing the extended pronunciation of Ares to carry the reaction.
