About this sound

The short Kratos 'Boy' voice clip from God of War, used in memes, gaming edits and reaction videos to add a stern, deadpan command.

This sound is the clipped, gravelly 'Boy' line spoken by Kratos, the stern father from God of War. It is extremely short, sharp and instantly recognizable, with a deep, commanding tone that lands like a warning or correction. Because the delivery is so dry and serious, creators use it to punctuate moments where someone is being reckless, clueless or needs to be called out. The contrast between Kratos' intensity and a trivial video moment is what makes the clip funny and effective.

The clip comes from Kratos in God of War, especially associated with the 2018 game where he frequently addresses his son Atreus as 'Boy.' That delivery became a widely shared gaming meme because one word carries so much authority and impatience. Short edits, reaction posts and gameplay compilations helped it spread across social platforms. It still gets used because even out of context, the line immediately signals disapproval, correction or stern focus in a funny way.
