About this sound

A distorted beatbox take on the chorus of Carl Douglas's “Kung Fu Fighting,” used in chaotic edits, abrupt punchlines, and intentionally loud online memes.

This clip turns the familiar “Everybody was kung fu fighting” lyric into an aggressively loud beatbox meme. Heavy distortion, boosted bass, and clipped audio give the performance an intentionally blown-out quality commonly described as earrape. Its sudden volume and exaggerated rhythm can make an ordinary action scene feel absurdly intense, especially when the movement loosely resembles martial arts. At nearly eighteen seconds, the sound has enough time to build a complete chaotic sequence rather than serving as a single impact. The humor comes from pairing a recognizable chorus with deliberately overwhelming audio.

This meme audio draws on “Kung Fu Fighting,” the 1974 disco song recorded by Carl Douglas and written and produced by Biddu. The original became widely recognizable through its martial-arts-themed chorus and enduring use in films, television, advertising, and comedy. This particular clip is a distorted beatbox-style interpretation rather than the clean studio recording, and its uploader or first online appearance is not established. It remains useful in short-form edits because audiences recognize the lyric immediately while the extreme loudness creates an abrupt comedic contrast.
