About this sound

A slow, eerie door creaking sound effect, often used in horror edits, suspense scenes and prank videos when something unsettling is about to happen.

This sound is a short recording of a door opening with a long, drawn-out creak. The hinge noise is rough, high-pitched and slightly uneven, which gives it a tense, uncomfortable feeling right away. It is the kind of sound people recognize from horror films, haunted house scenes and sneaky late-night moments. Because the creak builds slowly instead of hitting all at once, it works well when you want viewers to expect something creepy, awkward or suspicious before the reveal lands.

This is a general door creaking sound effect rather than a quote tied to one character or franchise. Sounds like this became common online through horror edits, prank clips, haunted house videos and short-form suspense memes. Creators keep using them because the meaning is instantly clear: a door is opening, something feels off, and a reveal is coming. Its simple, familiar audio cue makes it useful across comedy, horror and reaction-style content without needing any extra context.
