About this sound

The manic Kira laugh from Death Note, used in anime edits, villain reveals and overconfident meme moments when a scene needs a chilling burst of evil.

This clip captures Kira's unhinged laugh from Death Note, the kind of triumphant, theatrical cackle that instantly signals a villain snapping or reveling in total control. It starts as a confident laugh and grows into something more intense and unsettling, making it perfect for edits that need a dramatic turn. The sound has a sharp, memorable energy that lands somewhere between genius, madness and ego overload, so even a short use can make a character look intimidating, smug or completely unbalanced.

This sound comes from Death Note and is associated with Light Yagami in his Kira persona, whose intense laugh became one of the anime's most recognizable audio moments. The anime adaptation began in 2006, and clips of this scene spread widely through AMVs, reaction edits and villain compilations online. It remains popular because the performance is instantly recognizable to anime fans and it communicates triumph, arrogance and instability in just a few seconds, which makes it easy to reuse in meme formats.
