About this sound

A clip of the 'Dame Da Ne' chorus from Yakuza's Bakamitai, widely used in memes, edits and deepfake-style videos for dramatic, sad or ironic moments.

This sound is the famous 'Dame Da Ne' section of Bakamitai, the karaoke song associated with the Yakuza game series. It opens with a slow, emotional vocal line and quickly creates a dramatic, melancholy mood that feels both sincere and slightly over-the-top. That mix is exactly why people use it in memes. When dropped over a zoom-in, a sad character face or an ironic reveal, it makes the moment feel heartbreakingly serious while still being funny to anyone who recognises the reference.

The sound comes from Bakamitai, a karaoke song featured in Sega's Yakuza series and sung in-game by Kazuma Kiryu. Around 2020, the 'Dame Da Ne' section exploded online through lip-sync and deepfake meme videos, where characters or public figures suddenly appeared to sing the chorus. Its staying power comes from that contrast between genuine sadness and absurd editing, which makes it useful for parody, reaction edits and mock-serious emotional punchlines.
