About this sound

The famous Pokemon dub quote from Episode 25 where Brock calls onigiri jelly filled donuts, used in memes about bad localization and anime edits.

This clip features the well-known English Pokemon anime moment where Brock enthusiastically describes rice balls as jelly filled donuts. The line lands with cheerful sincerity, which makes the mismatch even funnier once you see the food on screen. That gap between what is said and what viewers clearly see turned the audio into a long-running meme. It works as a punchline for awkward dubbing, obvious cover-ups, or any edit where someone confidently names the wrong thing and somehow makes it more memorable.

This quote comes from the English dub of Pokemon, specifically Episode 25, Primeape Goes Bananas. In the scene, Brock refers to onigiri as jelly filled donuts, a localization choice that later became widely mocked online. The clip spread through anime forums, YouTube compilations, GIFs, and meme pages as an example of awkward 1990s dubbing. It still gets reused because the line is instantly recognizable to Pokemon fans and neatly captures the humor of changing a visible cultural detail into something else.
