About this sound

A classic aircraft pull up alarm sound associated with the Boeing 727, used in memes, edits and flight clips to signal sudden danger or panic.

This sound is the urgent cockpit-style warning call heard as “pull up,” repeated in a sharp, mechanical voice. It has the tense, unmistakable tone of an aircraft ground proximity warning, instantly suggesting imminent danger, loss of control or a last-second mistake. In videos, it works as a fast panic cue that turns an ordinary fail, crash, bad decision or near miss into something much more dramatic. Even in short edits, the alarm creates instant suspense and a strong sense that things are about to go very wrong.

The “pull up” warning is widely recognized from aircraft ground proximity warning systems, which alert pilots when terrain impact is a risk. Online, short clips of this alarm spread through aviation videos, fail edits and meme compilations because the phrase is immediately understandable even to non-pilots. Its popularity comes from how quickly it signals danger, making it useful far beyond aviation content. Creators still use it when they want a clear, dramatic cue that something is going wrong fast.
