About this sound

A short cartoon slipping sound effect used in funny fails, pratfalls and sudden wipeout edits. It fits classic comedy-style falls and near misses.

This clip is a very short cartoon slip sound, the kind of quick squeak-and-slide effect you hear right before a character loses their footing. It has a fast, exaggerated feel that instantly signals clumsiness, surprise or an incoming fall. Because it is so brief, creators often use it as a punchy setup sound rather than the whole joke itself. On screen, it makes simple stumbles, banana-peel gags and awkward missteps feel more animated and playful, with an old-school slapstick energy people recognize immediately.

This sound is best known as a general cartoon slip effect rather than a quote tied to one character or franchise. Short slipping noises like this became common through slapstick animation and comedy sound design, then spread into meme edits, fail compilations and short-form videos. It is still used because the meaning is instantly clear: someone is losing balance, about to fall, or having a clumsy moment. Its tiny length also makes it easy to layer with a thud, scream or reaction face for sharper comedic timing.
