이 사운드에 대하여

The classic vinyl stop scratch sound universally used in meme culture to abruptly cut scenes, emphasize shocking moments, and create ironic comedic transitions.

This clip is the familiar record scratch sound: a sharp, squealing vinyl scrape that instantly feels like something has gone wrong or stopped dead. It usually suggests a sudden interruption, a freeze-frame moment, or an awkward realization. The sound has a gritty, analog texture that cuts through music and dialogue, so viewers notice it immediately. Because it is so recognizable, it adds comedy fast, whether you are pausing a scene for a punchline, highlighting a bad decision, or making a dramatic change in tone feel exaggerated and funny.

The record scratch is a long-running comedy and editing staple based on the sound of a vinyl record being abruptly dragged or stopped. It became widely recognizable through radio, film, television, and trailer-style edits, where it signals a sudden interruption or a rewind-the-story moment. Online creators kept it alive in short-form videos, memes, and reaction clips because the sound instantly tells viewers that the scene has taken an awkward or unexpected turn. Its meaning is now almost universal, even for people who have never used a turntable.

자주 묻는 질문

What is the record scratch sound effect used for?

It is usually used to signal a sudden stop, awkward moment, or comedic interruption. Editors often drop it right when music cuts out, a freeze frame appears, or a character realizes they made a mistake.

Is this a real vinyl record sound?

The effect is based on the sound a vinyl record makes when the needle is dragged, slipped, or the record is abruptly stopped. In edits, though, it is often a cleaned-up stock version used for clarity and comic timing.

Why is the record scratch so popular in memes and videos?

It works instantly because most viewers already understand the joke. The sound has become a shorthand for 'hold on' or 'this went wrong,' so creators use it to make abrupt turns feel clearer and funnier.
