The I'm Blue da ba dee chorus from Eiffel 65, the late 90s dance hit turned meme sound used for blue edits, throwbacks and ironic dance clips.

This clip is the instantly recognisable hook from I'm Blue by Eiffel 65, built around the singer repeating da ba dee da ba die over a bouncy Eurodance beat. The vocal is pitched, robotic and deliberately nonsensical, which makes the melody stick after a single listen. In this short cut you hear the main loop repeat, bright synths and all, without the verses. Played over a video it instantly signals playful nostalgia, colour based jokes or something turning blue, and viewers recognise the reference even if they were not around for the original chart run.

I'm Blue, officially titled Blue (Da Ba Dee), was released by Italian Eurodance group Eiffel 65 in 1998 and became a worldwide number one in 1999. The track tells the story of a man who lives in a blue world, with the chorus built entirely around the meaningless da ba dee refrain. After its chart success it became a staple of early internet culture, spawning parodies, remixes and endless looped edits. Its simple colour theme and unforgettable hook explain why the clip still circulates as a meme sound decades later.
