Thalía's iconic 'Au' shout from the telenovela Marimar, a short dramatic yelp used for playful reactions, surprises and telenovela memes online.

This is Thalía as Marimar letting out her famous drawn out Auuu cry, a high pitched mix of pain and outrage instantly recognisable to telenovela fans. The clip lasts under three seconds but carries the full melodrama of the original scene, with the voice rising and stretching the vowel for comic effect. It works because it is both sincere in the show and absurd out of context, turning an ordinary mishap into a theatrical overreaction. Listeners hear the exaggeration immediately and read it as funny distress rather than real suffering.

Marimar is the 1994 Mexican telenovela starring singer and actress Thalía as a poor young woman whose innocence and misfortunes drive the melodrama. Her exaggerated Auuu cry became one of the show's most quoted moments across Latin America, repeated in reruns, parodies and family jokes for decades. As telenovela clips moved to YouTube and soundboards, the short shout was isolated as a standalone reaction, valued because viewers who have never seen the series still understand its mix of pain, protest and over the top drama.
