The Black Knight's 'just a flesh wound' line from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, used as a funny reaction to minor injuries, fails and setbacks in memes.

This is the famous deadpan boast from the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, delivered in a stiff British accent after losing an arm in a sword fight. The voice is calm, proud and utterly unbothered, insisting the injury is only a flesh wound while blood is clearly pouring. The comedy comes from that total denial of reality. Dropped into a video, it instantly turns a painful fail, sports knock or gaming death into a joke about refusing to admit defeat, making viewers laugh at the stubborn bravado.

The line comes from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), spoken by the Black Knight, played by John Cleese, during his absurd duel with King Arthur. After losing both arms and legs, he keeps insisting he can still fight, and 'just a flesh wound' became the scene's most quoted line. It lived on through VHS, DVD and early internet forums before becoming a staple reaction meme, GIF caption and soundboard clip. Creators still use it because the image of cheerful denial fits almost any minor disaster.
