The classic shouted Sega opening from Sonic the Hedgehog games, used in memes, retro gaming edits and nostalgic intros for an instantly recognizable start.

This clip is the iconic Sega startup shout heard at the beginning of many Sonic the Hedgehog releases. It is short, loud and clean, with the drawn-out “Segaaaa” vocal landing like a stamp before the game begins. The sound instantly signals retro gaming, especially 16-bit era Sonic, so it gives videos a nostalgic, energetic opening. Creators use it to introduce gaming content, joke about old-school console memories, or punctuate a reveal with a quick burst of familiar brand recognition.

This sound is best known as the Sega vocal logo associated with Sonic the Hedgehog game openings and startup screens. It became especially recognizable through classic Sega-era releases, where the stretched shout played before gameplay began. Online, the clip spread through retro gaming videos, meme edits, and compilation posts because a single second is enough to evoke Sonic, old consoles, and 1990s game culture. It remains popular because it works as both a genuine nostalgic cue and a punchline for sudden gaming references.
