Creators use it to introduce gaming content, joke about old-school console memories, or punctuate a reveal with a quick burst of familiar brand recognition.

This sound is best known as the Sega vocal logo associated with Sonic the Hedgehog game openings and startup screens. It became especially recognizable through classic Sega-era releases, where the stretched shout played before gameplay began. Online, the clip spread through retro gaming videos, meme edits, and compilation posts because a single second is enough to evoke Sonic, old consoles, and 1990s game culture.
