The moment Dragon Ball Z was interrupted on Brazilian TV for September 11 news coverage, a nostalgic meme Brazilian fans still quote and share.

This sound captures the infamous TV moment when an episode of Dragon Ball Z was suddenly cut off and replaced by breaking news coverage. The abrupt switch from animated fighting and excited dialogue to a serious news report is exactly what makes the clip so jarring and funny in hindsight. For many Brazilian viewers who were children at the time, it became an unforgettable disappointment, turning a normal broadcast interruption into a shared memory that still triggers instant recognition, laughter and mock outrage whenever the audio is played out of context today.

The clip comes from September 11, 2001, when Brazilian network TV Globo interrupted its morning Dragon Ball Z broadcast to cover the attacks in the United States. Children waiting for the episode remembered the interruption for years, and the story became a recurring joke in Brazilian internet culture, often told alongside other memories of that day. As clips and retellings circulated on forums, video sites and messaging apps, the interruption turned into shorthand for a generation's first unexpected break from cartoon routine.
